The Home and School Association’s Silent Auction & Social which took place on Wednesday April 22 at Dane Décor in Old City was a great success and a fun evening. Over $10,000 was raised for the Greening Greenfield initiative adding to the funds that are in place to begin the first phase of construction this June, after the close of the school year. Thank you to our many teachers, staff, parents, alumni, friends, and neighbors who came out on a rainy night to attend the event. Everyone had a terrific time and enjoyed the off-site venue, the great food and drink, entertainment, and conversation.
The success of the event is due in part to our very generous event sponsors, Dane Décor and I. Goldberg, along with Moore Brothers Wine Company, Fergie’s Pub, Walnut Bridge Coffee House, Margaret Ma Levy, and Peregrine Coffee. We also want to thank our 146 donors who gave a wonderful assortment of auction items – everything from art work to yoga classes, Philadelphia architecture tours to tours of DC, comedy club tickets to orchestra performances. (For a complete list of auction donors, please check our website at www.greeninggreenfield.net.) Be sure to thank the many local businesses who supported our event and our school through their generous donations.
Thank you to Ms. Emily Nichol and our student string ensemble – 7th graders Teige Dougherty, Aja Morris, and Brianna Seay, for providing beautiful classical music to kick off the evening. Throughout the remainder of the night we enjoyed a jazz ensemble brought together by Dan Dougherty. The band included Lou Furiano on baritone sax, Carl Letterie on tenor sax, John Merigliano on drums, Jack Reilly on guitar, and Dan on Bass. We must also thank Jamer Hunt for design of the beautiful invitations, Karoline Wallace for IT consultation and support, and Hillary Krain for producing the signs.
For the many volunteer hours spent planning the event and soliciting and collecting auction donations, we recognize the auction committee – Cheri Barron-Davis, Louise Bennett, Kris Henderson, Sharon Hoffberg, Lisa Hoffman, Hillary Krain, Lisa Lobree, Jean Manna, Denise McKeon, Olja Marsenic Couloures, and Pat Toy. |
